It’s a food delivery service from restaurants via a mobile app or website. Yandex. Eda was created on the basis of the company Foodfox (founded in March 2016 by Maxim Firsov and Sergey Polissarov). Customers can choose from pizzerias, bakeries, restaurants of Georgian and Japanese cuisine, burgers, steakhouses and other cuisines. At the moment, Yandex.Eda works in Moscow, Saint Petersburg, other 112 cities in Russia and 1 city in Kazakhstan.
Let’s talk a bit about history of Yandex.Eda
At the beginning, it was called Foodfox. According to the founders of the startup, this project arose because they faced the problem of delivering food from their favorite restaurant. It was impossible to know the exact time of arrival of the courier and the choice of dishes was limited to pizza or sushi.
That’s why Foodfox was created. Unlike other delivery services, its advantages were the absence of a minimum receipt, the ability to track the delivery process, and a large selection of restaurants. Foodfox helped both consumers and restaurant owners who were able to increase the number of orders.
How did we help them?
The founders of the Foodfox contacted the company EvercodeLab. We have developed an API for mobile apps, an admin interface, business logic, and integration with restaurants. The project took a year and a half, a team of five developers and a manager took part in it, we connected more than a hundred restaurants and launched a courier service. Foodfox quickly became so popular, that in 2017 Yandex bought it for 595 million rubles.
Why this startup was so successful?
The success of Yandex.Eda is based on multiple factors:
• the uniqueness of the idea
• demand among consumers
• scalable business model
• understanding of the target market
• professional team
After the launch of the service, our company provided them with a full-time team. So, we do not abandon the startups we worked with, but continue to develop them.
